Making Futures Project

The Making Futures Project has been supported by the European Social Fund through Welsh Government for women with low skills or from a work-less household, to improve their confidence and learn new skills through empowering workshops with the option of progressing onto a qualification.

Our project is unique in terms of working with women only from disadvantaged backgrounds; offering a holistic and hand-holding approach to remove barriers to both education and work.

Making Futures Project provides participants with:

  • A personal development plan
  • Confidence Building Training and Self-Esteem Building Training
  • Accredited vocational training including Essential Skills for Work and Life
  • Work experience/volunteering placements

A range of practical and interactive workshops (which can lead to a qualification) are available, and individuals can receive tailored support to help them achieve their personal, employment and education goals.

Participants are encouraged to take part in the many volunteering opportunities the organisation and its partners offer to improve confidence and gain new skills.

All of our workshops are Free and designed to empower women with self-confidence and self-worth in order to take positive steps forward towards living an independent life:

  • Developing Self Awareness               (2-4 hour workshop over 2 weeks)
  • Personal Confidence                          (4-8 hour workshop over 4 weeks)
  • Assertiveness Skills                            (2–3 hour workshop in 1 week)
  • Basic Home Budgeting                      (2-4 hour workshop in 1 week)
  • Exploring Creative Industries            (3-5 hours a week (variable time period)

 

Each workshop can provide participants with the following progression option if they choose to:

  • A part accreditation (towards a full qualification)
  • An accredited award (a full qualification)
  • Volunteer opportunities in a social setting
  • Further learning
  • Employment

 

We accept self-referrals and referrals from all professionals. To be eligible the following criteria applies:

  • Over 25
  • Living in a non-Communities First Area within Neath/Port Talbot
  • Living in a workless household
  • Unemployed for 12 months or longer
